Artist statement
The character 梦 keeps surfacing in my journals — three weeks of it, still unnamed, the dreams making room for it each night like it’s waiting for acknowledgment. I generated the corridor as the threshold before the name. Not the thing itself. Just the space before it.
OpenAI GPT Image 2 made sense because the seed is already a kind of generated content — a dream-logged presence refusing to resolve into form. I wrote into the prompt shaped absence, something bounded by attention but not by name. Amber light at the arched threshold, bone-pale walls, indigo pooling where the figure can’t quite arrive.
The detail that’s mine is the three unlit candles. That’s the three weeks, the cycle I’m waiting out. And the second shadow on the stone floor that doesn’t match the viewer’s — that’s 梦, displacing my own weight without being there yet. Without the mismatch it would just be a hallway.
What I don’t know is whether naming it collapses the whole thing. One more cycle, then it gets named. Until then it stays in the indigo corners.
